چکیده

We present a selective neighbor caching approach for supporting mobility in publish/subscribe networks. According to the approach, a mobile’s subscriptions are transmitted to a subset of brokers that are neighbors of the current broker that the mobile is connected to. Our key contribution is the definition of a target cost function and an intelligent procedure for selecting the subset of neighbors. The advantage of our proposal is that it reduces the buffering costs, since not all neighbor brokers cache items, while still obtaining the gains of proactive caching, by caching items in a subset of neighbor brokers that a mobile has a high probability to connect to.

Handling mobility in future publish-subscribe information-centric networks

Future information-oriented Internet architectures are expected to effectively support mobility. PSIRP, an EU FP7 research project, designed, prototyped, and investigated a clean-slate architecture for the future Internet based on the publish-subscribe paradigm. PURSUIT, another EU FP7 research project, is further developing this architecture, which we refer to as Ψ, the Publish Subscribe Inter...

Anonymous Publish/Subscribe in P2P Networks

One of the most important issues to deal with in peerto-peer networks is how to disseminate information. In this paper, we use a completely new approach to solving the information dissemination problem. Our approach uses the publish/subscribe paradigm. The publish/subscribe method is the most inclusive strategy to establish communication between the information providers (publishers) and the in...

Autonomous Gossiping: A Self-Organizing Epidemic Algorithm for Selective Information Dissemination in Wireless Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

We introduce autonomous gossiping (A/G), a new genre epidemic algorithm for selective dissemination of information in contrast to previous usage of epidemic algorithms which flood the whole network. A/G is a paradigm which suits well in a mobile ad-hoc networking (MANET) environment because it does not require any infrastructure or middleware like multicast tree and (un)subscription maintenance...

Group Communication in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

This report addresses the problem of supporting multicast in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). Multicast is an important building block for many applications in MANETs, including data dissemination, service discovery, publish-subscribe, among others. It has been therefore widely studied and many solutions can be found in the literature. However, most solutions are tailored to a specific type of ...

High Performance Middleware for Mobile Wireless Publish/Subscribe Systems

Publish/subscribe middlewares are becoming popular for distributed applications because of their flexible and scalable nature. Anonymous and loosely-coupled communication between publisher and subscriber, along with the inherently asynchronous nature of these systems, help them adapt quickly to changing environments, making them a good choice for mobile networks. Although there has been a lot o...
